Pakistan's fashion week
A four-day event that was postponed twice due to security concerns in a country wracked by tensions between Islamist factions and the more westernized urban areas -- showed a couture, even racy side of a region that makes many think of the hijab or burqa. "This is our gesture of defiance to the Taliban," said Ayesha Tammy Haq, the CEO of Fashion Pakistan Week. "There is a terrible problem of militancy and political upheaval ... but that doesn't mean that the country shuts down. That doesn't mean that business comes to a halt."
